Been a while, I’ve had lots of refining for the pieces I’ve been working on, but here’s a little self portrait I whipped up last night

My second assignment for North Shore Art*Throb! I had to take a not exciting photo of a boat and, with some clever use of literary quotation, make it an exciting illustration.

This is one of a series of portraits I’m creating for my internship at Front Street Studio for their literary magazine, North Shore Art*Throb Street Guide (http://www.nsartthrob.com/).  They wanted something artsy and graphic so this is my first shot at the magazine’s editor, Lilly McCrea.  It is created entirely in adobe illustrator.
I’ll keep up posts on this project as it progresses.

This is the first of my illustrations of songs from Tally Hall’s latest album “Good & Evil”.  It is entitled “Sacred Beast”.
I had a lot of fun with this piece learned a whole lot about value structure though the most important lesson I learned was how to complete my process.  Here are the steps:
1. Brainstorm
2.Sketch
3.Refine Sketches
4. Select and create final sketch to work from
5. Resize sketch for transfer to larger format
6. Gather reference
7. Transfer
8. Draw
9. Refine drawing
10. Scan drawing
11. Reassemble and clean up drawing digitally
12. Make digital corrections
12. Adjust and refine value structure
13. Color
14. Refine color
15. Make final overall refinements and corrections
16. Adjust for printing
17. Print and make ready for presentation!
